The Supporters’ Trust consulted supporters of Dulwich Hamlet on their views on the proposed redevelopment of Champion Hill during August. We were very pleased that 102 fans took the time to respond.
The results have informed the Trust’s formal submission to Hadley Property Group. Overall the Trust’s position is that any development should deliver a ground that is financially sustainable over the long term, provides for the needs of the club and its supporters and has the flexibility to allow the club to grow in the future.
The most commonly raised issue by supporters in the survey was ensuring that the plans include a high standard bar and club house. This was followed by provision of an all-weather pitch and having facilities available to hire. Annex A is a wordcloud, which summarises the views submitted (bigger words denote greater frequency of being raised). Annex B presents a selection of other comments made by supporters in the ‘free text’ section.
We look forward to working with Hadley in the coming months as they develop their plans. We also continue to urge Southwark Council to engage with Hadley to present joint plans for Greendale and Champion Hill that are in the best interests of the football club, local residents and the wider community.
