To say we were overwhelmed by the amount of support we received for our Calais Aid appeal was an understatement.
On Wednesday evening at 6pm we will be sorting out the items we have collected. If you would like to help out please drop us an email to email@example.com so you will be welcomed.
From midday on Saturday people were turning up in cars with goods such as tents, sleeping bags, toiletries and even guitars.
By 2pm we had to put a call out for volunteers to help us with the sheer volume of items that kept coming and coming.
We have had nearly £700 donated online and £400 cash donations at the match.
We would like that thank the organisers, board members Jack Spearman, Alex Crane and David Rogers and trust member Nisha Damji.
We would also like to thank Sainsbury’s for the loan of their trolley, the army of volunteers who helped move the items collected to the shed, Hadley’s and the Football Club Committee for supporting our initiative and donating the proceeds of the 50/50 draw.
We will be collecting once again at tomorrow’s game against Leatherhead from 7.00pm to 8.30pm.
We are currently not accepting women’s clothing as they already have plenty in Calais, and would like supporters to bring down practical items that they may have like tents, wellies, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, jackets, trainers and jumpers for slim men. It would help us out massively if donations are already be bagged and tagged before they are bought to us.
We can only accept items on the approved list due to lack of storage space.
- Shoes (mostly Men’s – walking boots or dark trainers)
- Travelling Bags
- Food (non perishable and no pasta items)
- Leggings /tights
- Wellies/waterproof boots
- Plastic bags
Once again, a big thank you from The Supporters’ Trust.
