The Trust Board consulted members on the proposed ground redevelopment plans last summer, and set out our interim position in a statement on 20 December 2014.
As promised in our statement, the Trust has continued to influence the evolution of the proposals in three areas:
- The ground: working closely with the owners of Champion Hill (Hadley Property Group, HPG), their architects (Farrells), Supporters Direct and our independent Trust appointed architects (AFL Architects) to ensure that the voice of supporters is heard as plans for the new ground are developed.
- Security of tenure: urging Southwark council and HPG to ensure a secure future for the football club by agreeing a long-term lease of at least 99 years for Greendale Fields, where our proposed new ground would largely be situated.
- Fan ownership: working up a model for fan ownership and a vision for how supporters can run the football club (a draft was shared with Trust members at the AGM), and engaging with HPG and others on the detailed business planning.
The 20 December statement also promised a poll for members on whether the Trust should publicly back the proposals. This is a highly significant decision for Dulwich Hamlet Football Club and not one that should be taken lightly, or without the backing of Trust members. We will hope to be launching this poll in the coming weeks, and publishing information to allow members to make an informed decision.
In order to guarantee the chance to participate in the poll, Dulwich Hamlet fans must join the Trust by the end of Thursday 3 September. Anyone who joins after this date may not be eligible to vote.
You can join the Trust here, or in person at our “mega-shed” in the ground during the game on 29 August (and at all home games). Membership is £10 for adults and £2 for juniors, but you must be 18 or over to vote in the poll. The current Trust membership period is from 1 February 2014 to 31 January 2016. We will be announcing details of membership for 2016 in the autumn.
