Welcome back to Champion Hill for the first home league game of the season against Wealdstone.
This is our second season in the National League South and Gavin and the team have spent the close season putting together a squad that should not only be kicking on from last season’s final league position, but as we all hope, will go on and have a good cup run. We have all dreamt of that FA Cup First Round proper home tie; let’s hope this is the year.
It’s been well published that Meadow Residential, the owners of Champion Hill stadium, and the Football Club have recently put in a joint planning application for the redevelopment of the land which would result in East Dulwich having a new community stadium.
The Trust are working very closely with both parties on this and we will ensure that are members and supporters of this great community club are kept up-to-date on it’s progress.
We recently issued a statement regarding the latest planning proposals, which is as follows:
The Dulwich Hamlet Supporters’ Trust (DHST) Board supports the planning application to deliver a new community stadium at Champion Hill. As a significant shareholder in Dulwich Hamlet FC, DHST looks forward to being closely involved in the detailed planning of the new stadium on behalf of supporters.
DHST recognises that it is essential that Dulwich Hamlet Football Club has a permanent home in the heart of East Dulwich, in order to ensure the long term future of this valuable, 126-year-old community asset. We are pleased that the proposal will both allow the Club’s and Trust’s community-focused activities to expand, and make the Club’s facilities available for the benefit of local schools and community groups.
We encourage all of our members, all supporters of Dulwich Hamlet FC, and our friends in the wider football community to write to Southwark Council in support of the proposal – this is vital in order to ensure that the decision makers understand the strength of feeling on this topic.
