Altona 93 x Dulwich Hamlet Frendschaft - "The 130 Mile Challenge" Fundraising Event!

Danny Lester on 29th Mar 2023

To mark the visit of our close friends Altona ’93, and to continue our support for the Albrighton Community Fridge, a group of Dulwich fans will be embarking on a 130 mile sponsorship journey over the next three away games.

The first event will take place this Saturday 1st April, with the aim being to walk all the way from Dulwich Hamlet Football Club to Dartford Football Club, setting out as a group at EIGHT O'CLOCK for the fifteen mile journey down into Kent.

The next event will be a cycle up to Hemel Hempstead on Easter Monday April 10th for our game against Hemel Hempstead; and finally the third event will be a gruelling 80 mile cycle over to Hungerford Town for our crucial clash on 22nd April.

Dulwich fans have been involved in a number of charity walks down the years including in 2017 to Wingate & Finchley, 2018 to Leatherhead and in 2019 from Selhurst Park to Champion Hill as part of the Walk & Talk campaign.

EVERY PENNY RAISED will be split between the 'Inter City 130' campaign, which is the Hamlet fans' fundraising contribution to bring the Altona ‘93 First Team squad over from Hamburg in July this year for a pre-season training camp; and the other recipient will be the Albrighton Community Fridge. The Tour will include two matches, culminating in a celebratory 130th anniversary game between ourselves and our close friends from Altona ‘93. You may recall that they came to Champion Hill back in 2015, their trip being paid for by their own supporters.

Conscious of the fact that 'charity begins at home', there are many people who are in need in our own community, and so we are splitting our donations with the much-respected and vital Albrighton Community Fridge.

If you have would like to participate in the walk or any of the cycling sponsorship events please contact Walter Johnson (johnson_walter@yahoo.co.uk) and if you would like to sponsor the group, you can donate online by CLICKING HERE on the official sponsorship page.

Thank you all for your support, both financially and morally, if you could not donate this time.
