This coming Friday at 7pm on 11th November, will see the Club stage their annual non-denominal wreath laying service at at Champion Hill. Wreaths will be laid at the Club’s War Memorial which is situated in the Boardroom, keeping up a tradition that has taken place since the 1920s. The service starts at 7pm and the Supporters’ Trust will be laying their own wreath so please join us. Following the service, the bar will be open and showing the England v Scotland match.

By timely coincidence the Supporters’ Trust was contacted by a family member of the late Alfred Pilkington, who played for the Club around 1919 to 1923. Alfred, or Fred as he was more commonly known, also played for the Dulwich Hamlet Cricket Club and Fulham for a short while.

We understand that Fred left a lot of Dulwich Hamlet memorabilia to his family and there will hopefully be an opportunity to share this with all supporters. It appears that before Fred played for the Club, he was a keen supporter and much of the memorabilia relates to the period 1912 to 1925. One example of this is the letter shown below which was sent by the Club to the players in April 1915 – a fascinating insight into the kind of messages that were being conveyed to young men at the time.
