Dulwich Hamlet to take on the World Champions on Wednesday

Duncan Hart on 8th Feb 2015

The Supporters’ Trust has worked closely with the football club this season to make Champion Hill a place where all of our community is welcome. Clearly new fans have been attracted to Champion Hill by the quality of the football on the pitch, the atmosphere and community engagement. However, without the sterling work on anti-discrimination and promoting diversity in the Rabble, then it’s unlikely this growth would have been as spectacular.

Wednesday is the pinnacle of our joint work on anti-homophobia when a strong Dulwich Hamlet XI will take on Stonewall FC, the Gay World Champions. The match coincides with Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender History Month, which takes place throughout February.

We encourage all fans to make the effort to go to the game and bring your flags, banners and colours. A large attendance will send a strong message to the rest of the football world that homophobia has no place in the beautiful game. Entrance is only £3 for adults and £1 for concessions, so there really is no excuse not to go! We are delighted that the club have agreed to donate all proceeds from the evening to Stonewall’s chosen charity – the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The Trust has also worked with the club to produce a special programme to mark the occasion. 100% of the proceeds will go t charity, as Paradiso Creative Design and Horizon Printing have provided their services for free. So take that £7 change from your tenner entry and give it to the programme seller at the entrance!

See you all on Wednesday. Up the Hamlet
