22nd Aug 2016

Copa90 DHST final

Copa90 are organising an international 7-a-side football fans’ tournament (the Liberté Cup) in Dunkirk on 10th September, integrating refugee players from the La Linière camp with football fans from across Europe. Copa90 champion football fan culture, celebrating the passion of supporters and highlighting stories from outside of the beautiful game. The organisation believes that football is more than a game, and has the power to unite people from all walks of life in a way that nothing else does. Indeed, Dulwich Hamlet featured on their YouTube channel when they did a report on our charity game versus Stonewall FC.

Following successful campaigns including last season’s FC Assyria charity football match and the aid delivery to the La Linière camp; the Dulwich Hamlet Supporters’ Trust, with the backing of our supporters team, would like to continue this benevolent work and send a team to participate and represent the Club’s fans. We don’t need a full team, as those interested can be combined with other teams and refugee players. Supporters who would like to come and watch are also very welcome at the tournament.

Players, supporters, teams, or interested individuals should get in touch with Walter Johnson (DHST Community Lead) at johnson_walter@hotmail.com by 28th August. In addition to the activities on the day, the organisers have a small fund to help subsidise travel and accommodation, this will be prioritised to help participating teams / individuals. If you would like to participate, but need support to do so, then please include this in your email to Walter.
