Have You Ever Considered Joining the Trust Board?

23rd May 2021

In the next few days, Supporters’ Trust members will be receiving notice of the date of our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which includes an invitation for nominations for election to the Trust Board at which at least four positions will be available.

If you do not receive the notice and you are a current member of the Supporters' Trust, do please contact us via email:  info@dhst.org.uk

The Trust, through our purchase of shares in the football club, currently holds just over a 27% stake in the club and we are looking for new members to join us on the Trust Board as we continue to work towards ensuring the long-term future of the club, for both supporters’ and the local community.

Information on which particular Board roles we will be seeking to fill will be published shortly, in the meantime below is the first in a series of statements from current and past Board members about their time on the Trust Board.

Tim Scott – Served on the Board since 2020

Current position: Fan engagement

"I was elected to the board at the 2nd attempt and am just coming up to the end of my first year in the role. In that year I haven’t been able to watch a game at Champion Hill owing to the ongoing pandemic; whilst this has been incredibly frustrating, the work of the Supporters’ Trust has continued to be a vital part of the what makes Dulwich Hamlet Football Club unique.

I’m not sure what my expectations were upon joining the board. As a fan of several years I guess I had taken for granted the huge amount of effort that goes into the merch, to the charitable work, even just running the membership renewals or the website. Being on the board has brought all this effort into sharp focus and offered me experience I have been able to bring back to my day job working for a trade association.

With the aftermath of the pandemic still to be fully realised, and how the Trust can support the Club in delivering a safe and enjoyable experience, plus the ongoing situation for the club regarding the development of the new stadium and all that will involve, I think the next couple of years are going to be pivotal for the Trust and the Club and I am proud to be part of that future and looking forward to doing my bit to support it."

Pete Wright: Served on the Board 2016-2019 (first published 2019)

Previous Position: Membership Engagement

"I first began watching the Hamlet in 2013 and I was elected in 2016 and assumed a role defined as ‘Membership Engagement’. It quickly became clear that as a member of the DHST board you may lead on a particular aspect of trust business but in reality every member of the board is involved to some degree in all aspects of trust business. It’s been a privilege to work as a small part of two incarnations of the board. Both have been open, professional and have made strides towards achieving our objectives.

This was the first such role I have had and, as I’m sure will be reiterated elsewhere, it has been invaluable to my own personal development. As a member of the trust, nominally with the role of administrating the membership system, I have somehow gained insight into project management, developing personal and commercial relationships, organizing volunteers and running mailing lists (MailChimp). I’ve also learnt more than I’d like to about WordPress and PayPal. I’m a research scientist and it might not be obvious how assuming this role would have helped me in my day-today life, but I can tell you for one that my project meetings at work certainly run more smoothly now."
