Join the Board as Trust Secretary!

The Dulwich Hamlet Supporters’ Trust (DHST) is looking to appoint a new secretary of the Trust. This is a hugely significant position: DHST owns 33% of Dulwich Hamlet Football Club, scrutinises it, and ensures that the voices of the fans are heard by the club.
Additionally, we run Dulwich Hamlet's merchandise operation and share profits between the club and DHST, providing an important revenue stream for both of us. Volunteers from DHST also work with the club to do its award-winning community work.
As DHST Secretary, you’ll play a key role in making sure the Supporters’ Trust does its job effectively, and ultimately ensures that Dulwich Hamlet remains a well-run football club that serves its local community.
Why does DHST need a Secretary?
DHST is a Community Benefit Society (CBS). Every CBS must, by law, have a Secretary.
The Secretary of DHST must be a subscribed member of the Trust, and is appointed by the Board.
What does the DHST Secretary do?
The Secretary’s role is to monitor the Trust’s affairs and ensure that matters are dealt with in accordance with its constitution (or Rules), legislation, DHST policies and good practice, and to the benefit of the Members.
The Secretary protects the members’ interests and ensures that the Rules are followed and that the organisation is functioning properly. The Secretary must be able to attend all the (normally monthly) Society Board meetings.
You will need to be able to manage the work to a high standard and be well organised, detail-oriented, reliable and conscientious, and you must also have the ability to communicate and collaborate with other Trust members.
You should also be capable of being able to change or improve the workings of the Trust Board. Experience of chairing meetings would also be preferable.
Knowledge of the work of the Trust, together with its aims and objectives would be beneficial, though handover support will be available from the retiring Secretary if required. Training for some aspects of the role will be available from time to time from the Football Supporters’ Association.
I’m interested. What should I do?
