Welcome to Dulwich Hamlet Women’s FC

14th Jun 2019

Last Friday the club announced that from this coming season (2019/20), AFC Phoenix of the London and South East Premier Division would be playing as Dulwich Hamlet Women’s FC.

The Supporters’ Trust are looking forward to welcoming the squad, their family and supporters into the Hamlet family.

Back in March, we announced that two organisations would benefit from the sale of our International Women’s Day (IWD) scarves which where launched at the Dartford home fixture on 3 March 2019. At the time, The Red Box Project, was announced as one recipient, but we made no announcement on who the other organisation to benefit would be. We simple posted …… Watch this space!!

Well, finally we can announce that the other organisation to receive £450, from the Supporters’ Trust, will be Dulwich Hamlet Women’s FC!

Back in March, myself and fellow Board member Mel Hughes, went to watch AFC Phoenix’s final league game of the season at Champion Hill. At the end of a very entertaining game, despite periods of heavy rain, they agonisingly narrowly lost out to Kent Football United 2 -1. Kent, with games in hand, would eventually go on to win the league and pipped AFC Phoenix in securing the one available promotion place.

After the game, myself and Mel spent some time talking to various members of their squad and committee, we knew straight away that Dulwich Hamlet and AFC Phoenix would be a perfect fit for each other and that Sunday’s in East Dulwich would never be the same again.

Dulwich Hamlet Women’s FC will play their games on Sundays and Wednesdays and games will be priced at £4 Adults, £2 concessions (U13’s free). The football club have announced that entry to all homes will be free for those who have a 2019/20 DHFC Season Ticket. For those of you still considering purchasing a season ticket, further information can be found on the club’s website.

The women’s team will have a full pre-season at Champion Hill, playing fixtures on four consecutive Sundays all a 14:00 KO. The first fixture will see them host Leyton Orient on Sunday 21 July.
