Dulwich Hamlet Calais Refugee Appeal: Another thank you and a call for volunteers

9th Sep 2015

We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our members, fans and members of the local community who have donated cash, clothes, tents and other items to our Calais refugee appeal.

Our shed is now full to the brim and we can’t take any more physical donations until we have sorted, packed and labelled what has already been dropped off.

We’re are having a sorting session this evening in the Champion Hill clubhouse from 6.30pm this evening (Wednesday 9 September). We are still looking for volunteers to help us with what has become a mammoth task so please get in touch if you are able to pop over this evening even if it’s just for an hour.

If you have any spare boxes (ideally with lids), crates (again ideally with lids), large laundry bags, white sticky labels, masking tape and or marker pens please drop them off at the club house after 6.30pm

We are still hoping to reach our £2000 target which will help us deliver donations to Calais and buy further supplies as directed by the charities working on the ground in Calais to meet the most immediate and pressing needs such as food.

If you would like to donate, please visit our go fund me page.

We’d like to say a big thank you to Big Yellow in West Norwood for supporting us with storage space until we go to Calais next month. Also a big thank you to Stevie who came to the club last night and offered the use of his van.

Of course, we need to transport items from the Football Club to West Norwood. We do not have an exact timescale for this yet but if you have a van and would like to help us, please register your interest by emailing info@dhst.org.uk.

And once again thank you to all that have donated their time, energy, money and items to our appeal to help the people living in Calais.
