Make sure you get down to the bar at Champion Hill on Thursday 29 October at 7.3opm. Forward The Hamlet are compering a quiz in support of our friends at Football Beyond Borders (FBB). Entry is only £3 per person, and teams can be a maximum of five people. You can register your team in advance by emailing forwardthehamlet@gmail.com or posting on the wall of the Facebook event page.

All proceeds will go towards FBB’s Schools programme. This combines football coaching, classroom tutoring, reward visits and international travel. They work with 120 young people across the capital working to tackle the root causes of low educational attainment, persistent absenteeism and challenging behaviour.

Indeed, one of the rewards the kids get are visits to Champion Hill. 70 kids will be at our home game versus Merstham on 27 October courtesy of free tickets provided by the Football Committee. This is a repeat of a similar visit smaller last season when several of the young people participating in the programme visited Champion Hill (see photos below). You may also recall the FBB TV project also recorded an excellent film about life at Champion Hill.

So, make sure you get down to Champion Hill on 29 October to have fun, support a good cause…and you never know you may walk away with a prize or two donated by DHST or elsewhere.
